Ronnie O’Sullivan began the defence of the Shanghai Masters title with a detailed success against wild card Zhang Yi.
In his first competitive match since the World Championships at Sheffield, O’Sullivan appeared sharp as he got at the brand new effort with a display.
Zhang surprised by beating Ali Carter in the round, many, however there was a duplicate never on the cards against O’Sullivan.
The 43-year-old, looking to win for the next season in a row in Shanghai, wrapped up the win with centuries.
He’s joined in the quarter-finals by Shaun Murphy and Jack Lisowski, that won earlier in the day at the Regal International East Asia Hotel.
Lisowski knocked in 2 centuries to conquer world number one Mark Selby 6-3, also he’ll face fellow Englishman Murphy from another round following the’Magician’ Mark Williams 6-5.
O’Sullivan will play with the winner of this match between Xiao Guodong along with Kyren Wilson.
