NFL Hall of Famer and former VP of player personnel Gil Brandt suggested that Lloyd should be contacted by the Bears.
“Frankly, I really don’t think it will be long until we see that a girl break through the NFL barrier. I’d give her an honest tryout if I were, say, the Bears.”
The Bears have tried out nine kickers since the conclusion of this 2018 season. 10 field targets were missed by cody Parkey, their kicker last year, including a possible game-winner in their loss in the NFC Wild Card round from the Eagles and the group has Eddy Pineiro as their lone kicker.
“So many men and women are starting to think’will there ever be a lady [participant ] in the NFL?” I believe we’re sort of at that crossroads so far empowerment.
I have definitely got some enquiries, I got folks talking. Anything’s possible but right now I’m strictly a football player and we’re going to see what the future holds,” Lloyd told Sports Illustrated.
The US Women’s National Team play a friendly against Portugal in Philadelphia on Thursday while the Eagles see the Jets. Could a woman kick in the NFL? Yes, Lloyd has the leg strength and others do too but sadly it will not happen within this preseason.
