Kosovo’s brassy director Bernard Challandes says his group isn’t scared of enjoying with an England side he describes as the”best in world football”.
The 68-year-old Swiss trainer delivered a media conference to consider on Sunday as he described his”crazy barbarous” style of drama that has witnessed Kosovo make an abrupt beginning in their own European effort.
There was no repeat of the moments of Sunday when he addressed the media however Challandes insisted that he knows of the scale of the challenge facing Kosovo, who have only been a footballing nation for three decades.
“We are Kosovo and we’re talking contrary to one of the greatest teams in the world, in my opinion the best team on earth,” he told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s struggle in Southampton.
“I think that it is within my philosophy that when we don’t dream it’s unnecessary to play these gameswe need to dream and do everything that is possible to upset England.
“I will see tomorrow as with Kosovo we’re a youthful federation, never have we played against such an opponent.
“For me as a coach it is not easy to have a fantastic mix for the test of the particular game.
“If I say’we come to triumph’, I think a whole lot of individuals believe that’s pretentious; should I say’it is not feasible to win from England’,” I have to change my job.
“Never did we believe after four games that we play to your first area here in England.
“It’s very clear for me it will be a very, very hard game but it’s a possibility for our very young team to reveal what’s really a very, very significant level.”
Challandes conceded Kosovo will come up from some players when they line up against England in St Mary’s but says he does not mean to just try and defend.
Asked about the shape of both Harry Kane – who struck a hat-trick in England’s triumph over Bulgaria on Saturday – Challandes stated:”Harry Kane and (Raheem) Sterling and (Marcus) Rashford and, and, and, and, and…!
“For me it is a fantastic team but I have only this manner in my mind – I really don’t wish to say to my group,’OK, we stay in our own half and protect, defend, defend’ – I hope we can perform and become an opponent, not a large opponent however an opponent with strength.”
