Kosovo’s brassy director Bernard Challandes claims his group is not frightened of playing an England side he explains as the”best in world football”.
The 68-year-old Swiss coach delivered a press conference to consider on Sunday as he emphatically described his”crazy barbarous” type of drama that has witnessed Kosovo create an abrupt beginning in their European qualifying campaign.
There was no repeat of the moments of Sunday after he addressed the media on Monday, however Challandes insisted that he is aware of the scale of the struggle facing Kosovo, who have only been a recognised footballing nation for three years.
“We are Kosovo and we’re talking contrary to one of the best teams in the Earth, in my opinion the best team in the world,” he told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s clash in Southampton.
“I believe it is in my own philosophy that if we do not dream it is unnecessary to play such gameswe should dream and do all that can be done to upset England.
“I will see tomorrow since with Kosovo we are a youthful federation, never have played such an opponent.
“For me as a trainer it is not easy to have a fantastic mixture for the test of this game.
“When I say’we come to win’, I think a whole great deal of individuals believe that’s pretentious; should I state’it is not possible to win England’, I must change my job.
“Never did we think after four games we play for the very first place here in England.
“It’s obvious for me it will be a very, very difficult game but it is a possibility for our really young team to show what’s really a very, very substantial level.”
Challandes conceded Kosovo will come up against some players when they line up against England at St Mary’s but says he doesn’t mean to simply attempt to defend.
Asked about the kind of both Harry Kane – that struck a hat-trick in England’s triumph over Bulgaria on Saturday – Challandes said:”Harry Kane and (Raheem) Sterling and (Marcus) Rashford and, and, and, and, and…!
“For me it is a fantastic group but I have just this manner in my mind – I don’t need to convey to my team,’OK, we remain in our own half and defend, defend, defend’ – I really hope we can perform and be a competitor, not a huge opponent but a opponent with intensity.”
