For the very first time in five attempts, Exaggerator finally vanquished rival Nyquist to hand the Kentucky Derby winner that the initial loss of his career at the Preakness Stakes. Together with Nyquist’s trainers deciding to maintain the horse from the Belmont, Exaggerator will go into the closing Triple Crown race as the favorite to win.
Exaggerator is moving off in +125 to win the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, N.Y., at sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com. As a nearer which is accustomed to saving energy before the close of the race to earn a late kick, Exaggerator’s racing style needs to match well with the menacing 1.5-mile span of the Belmont Stakes.
Early reports suggest that there could be rain also, which might also work to Exaggerator’s favor because the horse has conducted three of his very best career races, including his win at the Preakness, on wet or sloppy tracks.

Stradivari was a popular mad choice in the Preakness, but ended up finishing fourth in that race. Destin ended in sixth place at the Kentucky Derby, but that has been about the heels of a rough trip that included multiple bumps from a crowded area. Using a cleaner trip on Saturday, Destin could see a better result.
The main issue for Exaggerator heading into the Belmont Stakes is if the gambling favorite can handle the extra distance. If the Preakness winner fades down the stretch, two powerful closers that may hunt him down are Suddenbreakingnews (+700) and Cherry Wine (+800).
Suddenbreakingnews had a powerful late kick in the Kentucky Derby to make a fifth-place finish, and Cherry Wine came from the back of the pack to maneuver Nyquist for second place in the Preakness Stakes. With extra track to operate with, these horses could figure into the exotic stakes or even pull off an outright mad.
Rounding out the Belmont Stakes field are Brody’s Cause (+1400), Governor Malibu (+1400), Lani (+1600), Creator (+1600), Gettysburg (+4000), Hunting the Spirit (+4000), Forever d’Oro (+4000), along with Trojan Nation (+4000).
