The Tifosi, ferrari fans, is going to be out in force again this weekend however, though Hamilton was booed on the podium earlier, he believes the connection is improving.
“I think it’s grown a good deal through the years however, it takes a very long time to change perception,” he said.
“We still come here and also you stand on top of their podium and 90 per cent plus are all Ferrari fans. Often we’ve come here and I’ve made the weekend not so good for Ferrari fans by having Mercedes on the top step.
“However, I love and respect them a enormous amount and, in actual fact, once I come here a lot of Ferrari fans actually ask me to come to Ferrari. And I get a lot of Ferrari fans who say,’I am a Ferrari fan but I admire you’.
“I think that it’s growing slowly, bit by little bit. However, it would not ever be the same if I was driving for a Ferrari team.”
