George Williams has known life outside of the Wigan Warriors set-up since he was 12.
Aside from a short loan spell out South Wales Scorpions during his rookie professional year since that young age, the half-back was embedded in his hometown club at 2013.
But having grown up in the region, played a junior for recreational clubs Ince Rose Bridge along with Wigan St Patricks, combined with being a part of the Warriors’ Super League triumphs in 2016 and 2018, Williams would be departing for Australia at the conclusion of this year.

“It is quite a cliche, however, playing Wigan was my fantasy,” Williams told Sky Sports. “I signed Wigan when I was 12-years-old on a scholarship, so I have been here 12 years now.

“I know people always say it’s forwards and not backs [from England who succeed at the NRL], but hopefully I can create my own route and produce a small statement.”
