After winning the hearts of pretty much everyone, Ajax will be eager to repeat (or better) the pops of last season — and I am backing them to begin their campaign with a boom against Lille.
Erik ten Hag remains with the club, that is a massive increase, and I am confident they’ll not let standards drop too much, as they have retained the majority of last year’s team — with the apparent exceptions of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.
Lille have had a mixed start to their seasonlosing their opening 2 Ligue 1 away games against Amiens and Reims–and it’s a tall order to find anything.
RB Leipzig look this season, and that I have them beating against Benfica.
The side have already tasted defeat in the home this effort –a loss to Porto–while Leipzig sit top of the Bundesliga.
Even a 3-1 away win in a good Borussia Monchengladbach outfit a couple of months ago is proof of Leipzig’s art on the street, and I’m confident about their chances.
Finally, I have RB Salzburg beating Genk.
Genk have fought this season, dropping to Zulte Waregem KV Mechelen and Sporting Charleroi and winning one away game so much.
Event have been completely dominated by salzburg and last season demonstrated their prowess on the stage, winning all six Europa League set games against Celtic, Leipzig and Rosenborg, before succumbing at the knockouts to Napoli.
This can be home side’s to reduce.
