Anthony Joshua’s team have after discovering it tough to replicate the Mexican ahead of the battle, sparring plans in place for its Andy Ruiz Jr rematch.
Britain star has started to prepare for his world title battle against Ruiz Jr from Saudi Arabia on December 7, live on Sky Sports Box Office, as Joshua tries to avenge his jolt New York conquer.
Ruiz Jr stepped in as a late replacement after Jarrell Miller failed a drug test and also promoter Eddie Hearn admits that the reversal of opponent wasn’t perfect for Joshua’s training camp, however, the Matchroom Boxing boss disclosed how early efforts have now been forced to organize suitable sparring partners.
“It is so tough to replicate the style of Andy Ruiz,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “The guy is 6’1”, he’s 19st, and he has speed just like a middleweight.
“It is one thing becoming a sparring partner in, it’s getting them to allow their hands go against Anthony Joshua. Would you need to do it? You’ve got to be mad to spar with him fight with him.
“We’ve gained more heavyweights than anyone. I don’t really need them helping out Andy Ruiz. We’ve already identified probably half-a-dozen guys who we believe are the mould.
“One of the problems last time was had six months to prepare. Ruiz was coming from Alexander Dimitrenko, which was a excellent way.
“We tried to find the sparring at, we fought a bit, no explanations, but this time round the preparation has got to be put on. There is six, seven guys we have already recognized and they make the trip and we can find the absolute best prep this time around.”
Joshua and Ruiz Jr will be reunited in Friday’s press conference in London and the challenger has cautioned that he intends to recover his straps.
“I dropped in the World Championship finals. Envision I ceased then, there would be no today,” said Joshua.
“Stopping is not in my DNA. As long as I have breath, I will keep fighting for boxing’s enthusiasm and fighting. That’s the place I belong.
“I had been born with a battling spirit. I know how to fight.
“People say,’you lost your names’. I say,’to drop something is to never get it back’.
“I have another chance on December 7. I used ton’t have a warm-up fight, I am not gun-shy.
