Coventry City have agreed a new contract with director Mark Robins following Sunderlands strategy to him regarding their vacant directors function to speak.
After gaining promotion via the play-offs at 2017/18 robins has guided Coventry to position at Sky Bet League One following 11 games this year.
The 49-year-old is currently in his second spell in charge of the Sky Blues and told Sky Sports News hescompletely committed to the club despite Sunderlands interest.
Robins stated:It has been really fast. I had been told on Wednesday afternoon.
[On Thursday] the club had started discussions about a contract and straightaway I said I didnt want to leave.
I am completely devoted. The work we have completed over the last three or four years has been really good and Ive got a real affinity and a true connection with this place, therefore it would take something special for me to move anywhere else.
Because they sacked Jack Ross on Tuesday after less than 18 months sunderland have been connected including Wigans Paul Cook and Wycombes Gareth Ainsworth.
Robins insists his objective is to attempt to guide Coventry back to the Championship Regardless of being flattered by the curiosity of Sunderland.
He added:Sunderland is a particular club. It is a team that is big, but so is this and its really close to my heart and the job that we are all doing, the challenges weve encounter together.
There is still a great deal of challenges to get through, but I am in the midst of a project that Im really enjoying and I want to do this to its conclusion, as far as we possibly could perform.
The immediate intent is to try and get into the Championship as quickly as we can. I am happy its all sorted and put to bed since theres big games coming up along with the match on Sunday is merely that.
Coventrys chief executive David Boddy is thrilled to have retained Robins in the club, yet commended Sunderland due to their manner during proceedings.
Boddy said:We are delighted that Mark has agreed a new contract with Coventry City Football Club, and will most supporters be overly.
Interest from elsewhere is a compliment to the excellent job that Mark has performed at this club, in spite of trying circumstances sometimes.
That Mark has committed to this new contract shows his affection for the team and its supporters, along with the dedication he has to continuing the wonderful work he has started here.
We have all worked extremely hard in the last 24 hours to get this to happen and also Id like to thank the owners to demonstrating their additional support and ambition towards the club
I would also want to thank Sunderland for the respectful manner they have approached the thing, which can be refreshing.
Coventry will host Tranmere Rovers in League One fixture in St Andrews on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Football from 11.30am.
