Former England captain Andrew Strauss has been explained as”an exceptional person” after getting a knighthood at ex-Prime Minister Theresa May’s resignation honours list.
Strauss, 42, led England into the number one Test standing, 2 Ashes wins, as well as, in their own 50 Tests as captain.
Trainer Andy Flower, in charge during Strauss’ period as captain, also paid tribute.
“I cannot think of a man more worthy of this honour,” Flower said.
“As a player he had been resilient and tough, as a priest he balanced a business hand and ethical compass using a compassion and empathy that supposed he was respected and loved in the dressing area by his players and the team ”
Yet another former England captain, Geoffrey Boycott, additionally received a knighthood.
Strauss scored 7,037 runs in a mean of 40.91 in 100 England Tests and joined the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as England’s director of cricket after his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2012.
He went on to launch a foundation in her name, and abandoned the job last year to support his wife Ruth, who was treated for terminal cancer
ECB chief executive Tom Harrison added:”Andrew was invited to shape the future strategy of the men’s global teams – as a way to enable an environment which would visit England as dwell contenders for the World Cup in 2019, a goal they thus thrillingly delivered just a couple short months ago.
“It was using the identical course and courage he and his family set up the Ruth Strauss Foundation to raise money and consciousness just a couple of months after dropping Ruth to a rare type of cancer.
