Joe Root has insisted he remains the right man to take England’s cricket team ahead regardless of criticism of the captaincy.
Throughout the Ashes, Test captain Root scored 325 runs at 32.5, the next most runs from an England player and the sixth most overall.
He also took three wickets at 40.66 and made seven grabs, with just wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow producing more for its hosts.
But since becoming captain his batting has endured and Australia retained the Ashes however, Root claims he’s the ideal man.
He said:”I need to be captain 100 percent. I love it.
“I am very honoured to captain England and I want to take this team forward.
“I really do think I’m the ideal man to take action. Hopefully I can find the financing and I will prove everyone .”
The 28-year-old Yorkshire batsman also admitted England plan to turn around their white-ball match, this summertime, culminating in their World Cup win that was magnificent, needed to be reproduced in cricket.
