Beyonce has 23 Grammys, but she could be arriving for Oscar. She co-wrote the first tune”Spirit” for the live-action version of”The Lion King”; the tune dropped on July 10 in advance of the movie’s launch on July 19. Do you believe it’ll cross that off her bucket list that is EGOT? It would be a moment of salvation after she had been disqualified because of her songwriting donation to”Dreamgirls” 13 years ago. Listen to “Spirit” above.
Composed by Ilya Salmanzadeh and Labrinth along with Beyonce, the tune will be featured in the movie as well as on”The Lion King: The Gift,” a compilation album produced and curated by Beyonce that will incorporate the work of African artists and manufacturers. Salmanzadeh has many songwriting credits for an assortment of artists, such as Ellie Goulding (“Love Me Like You Do”), Taylor Swift (“End Game”) and Ariana Grande (“No Tears Left to Cry,””God is a Woman”). Labrinth, meanwhile, recently published”LSD,” a collaboration album with Sia and Diplo.
