NFL Hall of Famer and former VP of player personnel Gil Brandt proposed that the Bears must contact Lloyd.
“Frankly, I don’t think it will be long until we see that a girl break through this NFL barrier. I would give her a fair tryout if I were, say, the Bears.”
The Bears have attempted out nine kickers since the 2018 season’s end. 10 field targets were missed by cody Parkey, including a possible game-winner in their 16-15 loss in the NFC Wild Card round from the Eagles and the group now has Eddy Pineiro as their single kicker.
“So many individuals are beginning to believe’will there be a lady [player] from the NFL?’ I believe we’re sort of so far as equality and women empowerment.
I got some enquiries, I have definitely got folks talking. Anything’s possible but I’m strictly a football player and we’re going to see what the future holds,” Lloyd told Sports Illustrated.
The US Women’s National Team perform a friendly while the Eagles visit the overburdened in MetLife Stadium. Could a girl kick in the NFL? Yes, Lloyd has the leg power and many others do too but sadly it won’t happen in this preseason.
