Edin Dzeko has paid tribute to his own new Henikh Mkhitaryan following his Roma introduction, demanding that he stays beyond his loan agreement in the club.
The Armenian made his first appearance on Sunday scoring in their 4-2 win over Sassuolo.
Dzeko, who scored in the victory, has heaped praise on the Arsenal winger.
He said:”I expect this out of him. I understand him and he’s a great addition.
“I am one hundred percent sure he will be a big help to us. I was certainly pleased to see this transfer happen.
“Once we played our domestic teams and then he scored two goals against us that I told him’my friend, next games you need to score for Roma also!’
“He’s a wonderful pro. He is remembered by me also and he will be a major player for us. Hopefully, he will stay a long time here.”
“Hopefully he will [remain ]. He’ll observe that we are currently playing soccer here and he scored a goal so ideally, he can have a lot of aids and goals .
Mkhitaryan signed for Roma on Deadline Day, along with his former Manchester United colleague Chris Smalling along with Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta on a loan agreement against the Gunners.
The side currently sit eighth and get their Europa League campaign underway on Thursday when they confront Istanbul Basaksehir.
VAR has been utilized since 2017 in Italy, however Dzeko claims there is work to do until it has perfected.
“We’ve already had it for the second calendar year. It is nothing new for us. It can improve definitely but it certainly helps too,” he explained.
“So, hopefully later on, it can assist the referees also since their job isn’t easy. We all know that. Together with VAR, they have to improve more.
“It’s a brand new thing for the Premier League, like I said. I think that it can help.
“Perhaps the one thing I really don’t enjoy with VAR is too many penalties. Each handball is penalty!”
