Charles Leclerc has admitted that the GP and the celebrations that followed surpassed his childhood dreams all, using Ferrari’s new hero hailed as a’national treasure’ following his success.
Leclerc was roared on during his epic drive at Ferrari’s home race and, after a massive exhale of emotion upon the chequered flag, that the 21-year-old was greeted by a sea of crimson and the famed Tifosi because he stepped on the podium as the Scuderia’s first Monza race-winner since 2010.
Leclerc, a brand new Ferrari enthusiast from age five, grew up dreaming about races in crimson – but nothing really prepared him for it.
“It’s gone past all of dreams I had as a young child,” said Leclerc. “To see all the people for a single group, singing completely – it’s incredible.
“I’ve never been around a podium with so many people under it and to realize that the entire straight was full of folks – 99 per cent reddish – it was great to see. Hearing them cheering, singing… there was only a great deal of feelings”
Leclerc was heralded as a world champion together with the youngster since then, and Lewis Hamilton Valtteri Bottas, threw everything to acquire past withstanding a Mercedes barrage.
Even Mercedes boss Toto Wolff insisted:”Ferrari have an impending good.”
Leclerc confessed his defence by Hamilton was”really about the limit”, but also that he’d do anything to not let this chance pass. A Ferrari driver in addition to the podium in the front of the Tifosi is one of F1 scenes, also Leclerc understandably found it tough to stay concentrated in the closing stages of the race.
“Over the last two laps I began to see in the grandstand that there was really a lot of agitation, that each the fans were still jumping,” he said.
“So yeah, I was telling myself’stop looking at the grandstand, look at the track, focus on what it is you are doing as a motorist and then you can enjoy whatever there’s out.’
“But it was quite tricky to stay concentrated on driving, seeing just how much motion there was in the grandstand.”
Leclerc added to Sky F1:”It’s the first time in my career that I really look at the grandstand whilst driving, which is generally not so great but I just had no alternative.
“They were simply jumping and hammering all race long, it was amazing to see. Simply to triumph here seems very, very unique.”
Leclerc’s Ferrari victory did not only earn praise from fans, fans and team bosses – but from the newspapers on Monday of Italy.

Corriere dello Sport crowned’king’ Leclerc, while also asserting the Leclerc era had started.
Leclerc became the second-youngest motorist in Ferrari’s history when he joined this season following a dazzling rookie season in F1 and stated wins such as Monza revealed he had been”more prepared than some people thought”.
“It has never been an easy start to the season, there has been a few errors,” he told reporters on Sunday night. “However, I believe I’ve grown.
“I understood the critics of this past yearI being too young. Second season in Ferrari and already in Formula 1 was for certain.
“I thank Ferrari for believing me. I am very happy to have these types of results to demonstrate that I was more prepared than some people thought.
