After winning the hearts of nearly everyone, Ajax is going to be eager to replicate (or even better ) the pops of last season — and I am backing them to begin their campaign with a flourish against Lille.
Erik ten Hag remains with the team, which is a enormous boost, and I am convinced they’ll not let standards drop a lot, as they’ve retained a lot of last year’s team — with the apparent exceptions of Matthijs de Ligt along with Frenkie de Jong.
Lille have had a mixed start to their year –losing their opening two Ligue 1 away games from Amiens and Reims–and it’s a tall order to find anything out of a savvy Ajax side on the street.
RB Leipzig look good this season, and I have them beating Benfica away from home.
The side have tasted defeat at home this effort –a loss to Porto–while Leipzig sit very top of the Bundesliga.
A 3-1 away win at a Borussia Monchengladbach costume a few months ago is proof of the art on the street of Leipzig, and I am confident about their odds on Tuesday.
Finally, I have RB Salzburg beating Genk.
Genk have struggled this year, winning one away game so much and dropping KV Mechelen, Zulte Waregem and Sporting Charleroi.
Salzburg have absolutely dominated proceedings domestically, and last season showed their art to the European stage, winning both Europa League set matches against Celtic, Leipzig and Rosenborg, before finally succumbing at the knockouts to Napoli.
