Toronto Wolfpack will be liberated should they defeat Featherstone from the Million Pound Game of Saturday to play in Super League next year, the RFL has confirmed.
The Wolfpack won their introduction play-off to go straight through to the Grand Final and ended 12 points clear at the top of the Championship.
They were told that they needed to demonstrate they meet minimum standards and Super League has obtained confirmation which Toronto have the ability to compete later completing due diligence.
An announcement said:Betfred Super League wishes to confirm its position to the possible marketing of Toronto Wolfpack or even Featherstone Rovers ahead of Saturdays Betfred Championship Grand Final.
The winners of this Million Pound Game will probably soon be subdivided to Betfred Super League, as accepted by the human body, the RFL.
Promotion is sanctioned from the RFL, who have verified that both clubs have fulfilled all the relevant criteria.
Featherstone had been told if theyre successful at the Lamport Stadium that they meet the minimal standards and will take part in Super League for the first time.
The information will come as some relief to Toronto, although chairman and acting chief executive Bob Hunter says he was always certain of a favorable outcome.
Hunter stated:I do not think there was ever an issue. They asked all of the appropriate questions but I dont believe I was anxious that we couldnt tick the boxes.
We are very enthusiastic but we have got to win the match, thats the most important thing.
Elstone has made it clear that they wont take the distribution money that they are entitled to, if Toronto do go up.
Together with Super League keeping some to assist with their management of the league that is going to be be divided between the 11 clubs.
Meanwhile, Hunter says that the club are expecting a crowd in excess of 10,000 for the game of Saturday and admits they may have to turn people off.
