John Oxx admits he’d have preferred longer to have prepared Skitter Scatter because of her crack at the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown following week.
Once her coach chose to relinquish his license and combine forces with the multiple Classic-winning 30, A Group One-winning juvenile for Patrick Prendergast moved to John Oxx.
She led to Newmarket for its 1000 Guineas as a elaborate, however picked up an accident and made her comeback at Tipperary last week.
The difference between races would be a concern while Oxx had been pleased with her conduct to finish second.
“She’s in good shape and she came from her recent race in good shape,” said Oxx.
“She is a pretty simple filly to train and also has a great attitude to her work. She does enough and she’s generous, although she’s very willing, not an over-exuberant worker.
“We’ve been pleased with her because her race. We were delighted to get her there.
“She ran a good race, she didn’t win, which I would have liked her to perform, but it was ideal really since she had a nice race. She just got tired and blew up in the last furlong.
“We were lucky to be able to receive her there and get to run her on good earth. It might have been what could we have completed and a bog – could we have not or conducted her.
“We got off with this. Unfortunately it’s just 16 days I would have favored three months, but it’s what it is and we expect that she is able to advance to run another race that is good.
“It hasn’t been ideal, but we need to be happy that she’s been in good shape along and has kept moving the right way.”
